Lenten Regulations 2015:

ASH WEDNESDAY & GOOD FRIDAY:

These are days of Fast and Abstinence. Fasting is to be observed by all Catholics who are 18 years of age but not yet 59. Those who are bound by this may take only one full meal. Two smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength according to one's needs, but eating solid foods and snacks between meals is not permitted. Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics 14 years and older.

DAYS OF ABSTINENCE:

(All Fridays in Lent) All who have reached their 14th year are bound to abstain totally from meat.

WEEKDAYS OF LENT:

There is no obligation to fast, however, voluntary acts of self-denial are recommended. These may include, in addition to fasting, participation in daily Mass, spiritual studies, Lenten Devotions, Stations of the Cross, saying the Rosary, deeds of mercy and kindness.

Lenten 2015 Schedule:

THURSDAY EVENING CONFESSIONS

- Father John will offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Thursday evenings (before Mass) from 6:30pm - 6:50pm during the Lenten season.

LENTEN EVENING MASS

- Join us for Mass on Thursday evenings during Lent at 7:00pm (no morning Mass on this day).

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

- Join us on Friday evenings at 7:00pm as we meditate upon the passion of Christ.

ADULT LENTEN FOLDERS

- We encourage our Adult parishioners to use the self-denial folders during Lent that they received in the mail and to return them on Good Friday. Additional folders are available on the bulletin table.

OPERATION RICE BOWL

- Our Religious Education students and Youth Ministry students will be participating in the Rice Bowl program making small weekly sacrifices for the poor and needy. Additional Rice Bowls are available on the bulletin table for others who would like to participate in t his program.

RCIA RITES OF SENDING & ELECTION
Next Sunday, February 22nd at the 11:30am Mass, our Candidate, Richard Booth will stand firm in his commitment to become Catholic. We support him in this initiation journey at the Rite of Sending, sending him to the Bishop to become the elect for Initiation into the Church.
We invite all parishioners to join in prayer for our Candidate, Richard. May we all grow as a community during this special time of preparation through this holy season of Lent.

LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS
LIVING STATIONS OF THE CROSS WILL BE PRESENTED BY OUR YOUTH MINISTRY STUDENTS ON FRIDAY, MARCH 6TH AT 7:00PM IN THE CHURCH. Mark your calendar and plan on attending to share in His suffering.


March 7/8, 2015

ST. EDWARD PIEROGI SALE
Mark your calendar and plan on purchasing Homemade Pierogi’s this Lenten season. They will be available the weekend of March 7/8. The cost is $6 per dozen. All proceeds benefit the church!




Announcements:

QUEEN OF ANGELS EXTENDED DAY PROGRAM

Q of A is in the process of beginning an Extended Day Program at the school. This program will be available for all full school days. It will run from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm. If you are interested in working in this program, please send a cover letter and resume to the school office. It will be a paid position and requires all clearances. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school office at 724-978-0144.


REGIONAL MASS

St. Barbara Church, 111 Raymaley Rd. Harrison City, conducts a Regional Mass every Sunday evening at 6pm.


TRADITIONAL LATIN MASS

Holy Family Parish, 1200 Ligonier St., Latrobe celebrates the Extraordinary form of the Roman Rite (Traditional Latin Mass) every Sunday at 1:00pm. You are welcome to attend this ancient, sacred and beautiful form of the Holy Mass. If you attend this Mass, you may place your Offertory Envelope in the collection and it will be forwarded to St. Edward.
